How to Install DC Racing Headers

    • 1). Raise up the front of the vehicle using the jack and set it on the jack stands. Make sure that the vehicle is solidly on the stands before crawling underneath it.

    • 2). Crawl underneath the vehicle and locate where the secondary exhaust pipe connects to the catalytic converter. Unbolt the exhaust from the converter using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Repeat the process at the other end of the secondary pipe, at the exhaust manifold, which is also accessible from under the vehicle. Lower the secondary pipe out from the vehicle.

    • 3). Pop the hood and unbolt the heat shield that goes around the exhaust manifold using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Unbolt the oxygen sensor from the exhaust manifold using an open-end wrench, and unplug it from the wiring harness at the same time.

    • 4). Unbolt the exhaust manifold from the head using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Lift the exhaust manifold out of the engine compartment and set it to the side.

    • 5). Slide the replacement exhaust gasket provided with the header onto the studs for the exhaust manifold. Then slide the header into the engine bay, and place it on the studs. Tighten the header onto the head of the engine using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket or an open-end wrench. Begin with the inside middle bolts, alternating top and bottom, working your way towards the outside of the headers. This keeps even mounting pressure on the header and makes sure you don't have any exhaust leaks.

    • 6). Coat the threads of the oxygen sensor with the anti-seize compound, then install the oxygen sensor in the header using an open-end wrench. Plug the wiring harness into the stock connection.

    • 7). Crawl under the vehicle and connect the header to the catalytic converter using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Make sure that the exhaust donut gasket is between the catalytic converter and the header, just like it came from the factory.
