General Troubleshooting

• 1). Make sure that the unit is getting power. Try to turn the Frigidaire dryer on.
  
  
• 2). Go to your breaker box and make sure that the laundry room breaker is set to the “ON” position. Your electrician should have labeled the breakers. Look for the breaker labeled “Laundry Room” and turn it on.
  
  
• 3). Go to your dryer and unplug the power cable. Look over the power cable to see if you can find any breaks in the cord. Replace the cord if needed. Cords can be found at your local hardware store.
  
  
• 4). Get a screwdriver and tighten the wire’s connection to the electrical panel on the back of the dryer. Plug your electrical cable back into the wall and test the unit.
  
  
• 5). Check the lint trap on the dryer to make sure that it is clean. Pull the lint trap from the dryer and remove any lint on the filter. A dirty filter will inhibit the dryer from drying the clothes.
  
  
• 6). Make sure that the door is being closed properly. Sometimes the latch on the door can bend, preventing the door from closing properly. Use a pair of pliers to bend the latch back into place.
  
  

Replacing the Heating Element

• 1). Determine whether or not the dryer is heating. If your dryer is not heating, you will need to replace the heating element. Go to the back of your dryer and unplug the power cable. Pull the dryer out so you can get behind it.
  
  
• 2). Use a screwdriver to take the back panel off of the unit. Remove the screws on the back panel. Look to the bottom right-hand side of the inside and locate the heating element vent. This will be a metal tube with wires coming out of the bottom.
  
  
• 3). Remove the screw holding the heating element in place inside the heating element tube. Pull the heating element out of the bottom of the heating element tube. Use a pair of pliers to remove the two wire nuts attached to the heating element.
  
  
• 4). Put the two wire nuts on your new heating element. Put the new heating element in the heating element tube and replace the screw holding it inside the unit. Put the back panel back onto the unit and replace the screws holding it on.
  
  
• 5). Plug your dryer back into the wall and test it out to make sure it is heating properly. Push the dryer back against the wall once you have determined that it is heating properly.
