Weight Loss - 3 Diet Myths and the Real Truth

The rules are always changing about diet and weight loss.
There are always "breakthroughs" and "discoveries", so what is true and what is not? Even with all of these new discoveries, many of us are still having a hard time dropping those extra pounds.
Here are some diet myths and the truth behind them.
1.
Never eat in the evening.
There is nothing wrong with snacking at night.
You do, however, have to be careful about your choices.
If you are going to sit on the couch in front of the television and eat an entire bag of chips, then you are going to gain weight.
So long as you have a handle on your daily calorie intake, choosing a snack that does not go over your daily recommended calories is fine.
You are consuming a certain amount of calories per day, period.
It does not matter what time you eat them.
If you are bored or stressed out, you may crave that junky snack, but think about all of the hard work you have done to get as far as you have.
Don't sabotage your efforts, choose a sensible snack.
2.
Do not eat fats.
Plenty of foods contain fat.
It is the quality of the fat that you need to be concerned about, not avoiding fat altogether.
If you study labels of fat free foods, many of them are empty calorie junk foods that you shouldn't be eating anyway.
Fat alone is the not the reason why we are overweight.
It is the fact that we over consume and ingest far too many calories than we will ever use in a day.
Excess calories equal fat storage.
Good fats are a dietary need for your body.
They help with certain body processes, such as the absorption of vitamins and the production of hormones.
Healthy fats are in foods like nuts, avocados and olive oil.
3.
Skip meals for fast weight loss.
A lot of people believe that if they miss meals, they will save the calories and lose weight faster.
Try it and you will see that nothing could be further from the truth.
The longer you go without eating, the hungrier you will be.
Eventually, you will end up eating more because you are so hungry, when you could have had a small meal or snack to satisfy your hunger.
Instead, eat sensible portions regularly, and keep your metabolism fired up.
