How to Wire a Flat Trailer Plug
- 1). Loosen the retaining screws on the tail lamp receptacle. Pull the frames of the tail lamp assemblies forward to access the tail lamp wires. Each tail light wire is normally labeled near the bottom of the tail lamp assembly as to which lamp each colored wire actuates.
- 2). Insert the left-turn signal wire completely into the V-shaped gap on the first splice connector. Insert the yellow wire from the trailer harness into the front hole of the splice connector. Crimp the splice connector to complete the electrical connection.
- 3). Insert the right-turn signal wire completely into the V-shaped gap on the second splice connector. Insert the green wire into the front hole of the splice connector. Crimp the splice connector to complete the electrical connection.
- 4). Insert the parking lamp (or tail lamp) wire completely into the V-shaped gap on the first splice connector. Insert the brown wire into the front hole of the splice connector. Crimp the splice connector to complete the electrical connection.
- 5). Insert the right-side ground wire completely into the V-shaped gap on the first splice connector. Insert the white wire into the front hole of the splice connector. Crimp the splice connector to complete the electrical connection.
