Caring for Others

1

Spend some quality time with your kids. Even after a long day, do your best to connect with your kids. Ask them about school or how their day went. Acknowledge even the simplest achievements they did and motivate them even more. Watch TV with them for awhile, read to them, give them hugs and kisses and tuck them to sleep. Show them that you do think about them despite being busy.
2

Listen to your teens. Keeping a close bond with your teenager is very important. You have to let him know that you are still there despite being busy at work. At the end of your day, make sure to spend some time with him. Encourage him to talk about what's on his mind, especially when you detect that there is something bothering him. When he talks, don't interrupt, just listen to him and allow him to air out his emotions.
3

Let your family know that you love them. “I love you” is but a common phrase to say, but keep on saying it anyway. Make your loved ones realize that they mean so much to you. The same goes to your friends and extended family. If you are busy, find time to text or call them just to let them know that you miss them, and that you are just wanting to make sure that they are okay.
4

Surprise your loved ones. Every now and then, make sure to do something that's interesting and totally unexpected with your family and friends. Watch fun movies with your little ones or go shopping with your teenagers. Send your wife some flowers, cook your husband his favorite dish, give your parents and in-laws a surprise visit and treat your friend to his/her favorite restaurant even if there is no occasion.
5

Accept your family for who they are. Letting others be themselves is among the many ways to show that you care. Just remember that nobody is perfect. Everyone has flaws, so do your best to be satisfied with having them in your life. Don't try to compare one of your children from the other, keep in mind that both of them are two different individuals. Love them equally without boundaries. The same goes with loving your partner. Loving your partner means loving him/her as a whole, which includes the negative aspect of his/her being; there are no buts, just unconditional love.
6

Keep the promises you make. When you make a promise to your family or friend, do your best to accomplish it. Make them realize that you are true to your words and that they can trust you. If you happen to fail one of your promises, don't forget to apologize. Explain to them and make them understand why you are not able to do it. And when you promise to make it up to them for the second time, make sure that you won't fail again.
7

Do not forget to remember special occasions. Try to remember birthdays or anniversaries of all the persons who are close to your heart. These occasions only happen once a year, so do your best to make it special for your family and friends.
8

Compliment your loved ones. See to it that you always praise and acknowledge even the simplest accomplishments of your partner and children. Make them feel that they are special and that you are proud of them. Even if they are in the verge of giving up, encourage them to go on. Allow them to see that you believe in them and that you are there to support them all the way. Do the same thing for your friends, tell them what you like about them and make them realize that you are blessed to have them.
