Tickety Toc - Overview
Ever wonder what the cuckoo bird does in his clock when he's not cuckooing the hour of the day? Tickety Toc is a series for preschoolers which airs on Nickelodeon and follows the adventures of tick tock twins Tommy and Tallulah.
They have to be in their places at exactly the right time to chime, but once the little clock door closes, all kinds of fun ensues.
8-year-old Tommy and his twin Tallulah have all kinds of problems to solve in the zany town of Tickety, but when they work together, they can always work out a solution. They just have to make sure they can do it in time!
Hanging out with fellow townsfolk like McCoggins the "Clock doc," his apprentice Hopparoo, and the helpful cow Madame Au Lait, little Tommy and Tallulah have plenty of good friends who are ready to lend a hand. They interact with each other and the other characters in positive ways and always try to fix any problem they cause, as well as the ones they don't.
Each half hour episode of Tickety Toc features two stories.
Tickety Toc - Review for Parents
The world of Tickety Toc contains plenty of whimsy with the colorful characters and clock cogs and gears. And what a fun concept? - The twin kid clock chimers go on zany adventures as soon as the clock door closes, but they have to be back before it's time for the clock to chime.
Kids will enjoy the wacky adventures that center around problems like getting caught up in a snow ball or picking up a mysterious package.
Visually, the show is a bit busy, but the pastel palette will delight little ones, as will the animal characters like Puffety the doggy train and many others. And viewing kids learn about positive problem solving and working together as they watch the characters on the show jump in and help each other.
The busyness of the visuals fits in with the crunched for time vibe of the show, which all together is probably what caused me to get a little stressed out each time I watched it. All that talk about getting things done before chime time...I like the concept and the cute characters, but for some reason the idea that their life is completely controlled by having to chime the clock every 15 minutes (assuming it chimes like a regular chiming clock) is a little bit creepy to me, and reminds me of how controlled we all are by the clock and our schedules.
Taking it a little too far, I know, but this just isn't one of those preschoolers shows I would generally enjoy sitting down and watching with the kids. I usually have too much to do before the show gets done anyway...
