How to Sew Round Pinwheel Pillows
- 1). Draw a 15-inch diameter circle on the craft paper, using the compass. Cut out the circle for a template. Pin the template on the folded silk fabric and cut out two circles.
- 2). Pin the right sides of the fabric circles together and sew a seam 1/4-inch from the edge, leaving a 6-inch opening unsewn. Clip the seams perpendicular to the fabric edge every inch to 1/8-inch of the stitch line. Turn to the right side. Insert the pillow form and hand stitch the opening closed.
- 3). Separate the button forms from their backings. Cover each button form with a 2-inch square of fabric. Push the backings in to secure the covered buttons.
- 4). Determine the exact center of each side of the round pillow with the ruler and mark it with the fabric pencil. Thread the tapestry needle with the ribbon and knot one end of the ribbon. Stitch through the center mark and wrap the ribbon around the edge of the pillow tightly to the opposite side center mark. Repeat to create five evenly spaced ribbon wraps to create the pinwheel effect.
- 5). Thread the ribbon through one button shank and stitch it to the pillow center of one side. Thread the ribbon through the other button shank and stitch it to the pillow center of the opposite side. Knot and cut the ribbon, hiding the knot under the button.
