How to Make Indoor Rock Fountains

    • 1). Stack the rocks in your shallow, flat-bottomed bowl. Start with large, flat rocks and end with smaller, rounder rocks. Make sure they sit steadily on top of one another and can balance easily without threatening to fall. Leave a flat space on top.

    • 2). Squeeze silicone caulk into the crevices between the rocks. Gently shift them aside and back so you don't have to disassemble the entire fountain. Allow the caulk to dry overnight.

    • 3). Fill the bowl with water and decide how many water streams you want falling from the top of the rock pile into the bowl.

    • 4). Cut 10-inch lengths of rubber aquarium tubing, one for each stream of water. Coil the tubing lengths and plunge them into the water until the bubbles stop.

    • 5). Place your thumb over one end of the tubing and bring it to the top of the waterfall, behind the rock pile. Place a rock quickly on the tubing to weight it (not crush it) and release your thumb. Water should siphon through the tubes and down the rocks.

    • 6). Pile a few more rocks around each tube to hold them in place. The water should siphon in a continuous stream from the bowl, through the tubes, and down the rocks into the bowl.
