How to Cut Metal Cladding

    • 1). Measure out the section of metal cladding to be cut. Use a measuring tape to accurately locate the sections to be cut, and mark it with a dry-erase marker. Do not use lead or permanent ink on the cladding, as the lead or ink may damage coatings on the metal.

    • 2). Place a strip of wood beneath the metal to elevate it sufficiently for cutting. Place the wood a little bit away from the area to be cut so that you do not also cut the wood.

    • 3). Use an angle-grinder to cut sheet metal-style metal cladding. Use a low-profile cutting disc for a clean, smooth cut.

    • 4). Use a reciprocating saw with a diamond-plated blade to cut roof and microfiber composite cladding. Cut slowly with the saw to avoid excessive ripping of the microfiber material.
