How to Set Up a Smart PH Water Chemistry Controller
- 1). Mount your Smart pH Water Chemistry Controller on a wall, near your system's chemical pump. Place it against a wall and then trace the unit's mounting hole with a pencil. Use a drill to create pilot holes over your marking.
- 2). Push the provided screw anchors into the pilot holes. Align the Smart pH's screw holes over the screw anchors. Secure it to the wall with a Philips head screwdriver and the packaged screws.
- 3). Shut down power to all the components in your plumbing system at your house's breaker box. Power off the pumps, filter and heater. Close any valves in the PVC piping, pump, heater and filter. Open the filter's air release valve.
- 4). Connect the Smart pH's included PVC T-joints to the PVC piping between your heater and chemical feed pump. Orient the joints so the arrows, printed on the exterior, point in the direction of your system's water flow and the T-joint's connection port faces upward.
- 5). Seal the joints with the supplied PVC glue. Apply the glue to the interior of the PVC T-joints before connecting the joints to the existing PVC pipping. Wait 24 hours before restoring the water flow to the piping.
- 6). Open the front panel of the Smart pH. Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the four screws that are securing the Smart pH's front panel to the device's circuit board.
- 7). Feed the flow switch's wire into the Smart pH's bottom right port. Loosen the "Flow" and "Ground" screws on the Smart pH's terminal block. Wrap the end of the flow switch's red wire around the "Ground" screw and its black wire around the "Flow" switch. Tighten both screws to secure the wiring.
- 8). Feed the pH sensor's wires through the same port as the flow switch's wires. Wire the pH sensor's green wire to the "pH - ORP" screw on the Smart pH's terminal block. Wire the pH sensor's clear, copper wire to the "pH + ORP" port on the terminal block.
- 9). Replace the Smart pH's front cover and screws. Plug the flow sensor into the port on top of the first PVC T-adapter. Remove the cap from the pH sensor and then plug the sensor into the port on the second T-adapter.

Plug the Smart pH's power cord into a grounded power outlet.
