How to Finish Soapstone
- 1). Clean your soapstone by wiping it with a clean, damp cloth. This prepares the surface for the finish.
- 2). Apply mineral oil to a clean, dry, soft cloth. Wipe the mineral oil onto the soapstone with wide, sweeping strokes.
- 3). Wipe off the excess mineral oil with a clean, dry, soft cloth. Notice the change in color of your soapstone; mineral oil darkens it and gives it a more lustrous finish.
- 4). Reapply mineral oil every 4 to 8 weeks. The mineral oil finish will wear off over time and need to be reapplied.
