How to Remove Collision Insurance
- 1). Call your current insurance carrier. The phone number to customer service will be on your insurance card. You can also go to your insurance carrier's website and look up their contact information there. Notify them that you want to remove your collision insurance from your auto policy, or cancel your entire policy for a specific car(s) on a specified date. Your bill will be adjusted accordingly.
- 2). Call your insurance agent. If you got your insurance through an insurance agent, you may call them to change your policy options. Notify your agent that you want remove your collision insurance from your policy, or from a certain vehicle on your policy. The insurance agent will make the necessary changes. You may be required to come into your agent's office and sign a contract agreeing to these changes. Sometimes the changes will be mailed to you, and you may be required to agree to the changes by signing the document and then send it back to the insurance company or agent.
- 3). Go to your insurance carrier's website. Create or log in to your account and manage your policy. For example, if your insurance carrier is Farmers' Insurance. You can log in to your account, and select "Manage My Policy." Then select to remove your collision coverage.
