Baby Feeding Products That Every Parent Requires

As parents of a new born there is a lot of responsibility, be it regarding the care, the welfare, the health or the feeding of a little baby. Preparing for a newborn can get overwhelming for any parents especially if it is the first baby in the family. Essentially, only a few items are required initially when the baby arrives and the rest can be gradually bought over time. As far as feeding the baby is concerned if you plan to breastfeed there is not much equipment required. However after a few months you will need certain essential products for baby feeding. Listed below are some of them.

Bottles- whether you are breastfeeding or giving the baby formula feeds, bottles are essential in a home with a newborn. A bottle with a regular neck works best for mothers who express their milk as these can be directly attached to the breast pump. A wider neck bottle on the other hand is good for formula feeding as this avoids any spillage when pouring formula into the bottle.

Bottle Nipples- usually most bottles come fitted with nipples however you can choose from a variety depending on how old the baby is. The nipple controls how fast the milk will flow from the bottle. The smaller the baby the slower the flow should be.

Bottle Brush- this is required to clean the bottles and should be one that stands on its own next to the sink. Regular soap can be used or the bottles can be put into the dishwasher.

Bottle Drying Rack- mothers who are formula feeding their babies frequently can think of investing in a bottle drying rack which keeps bottles dry by draining out all the water after a wash.

Bottle Warmer- babies usually prefer their milk warm rather than cold and this equipment takes away a lot of load from the already exhausted mother. Before buying a bottle warmer check if it warms the bottle enough.

Steriliser- paediatricians these days do not lay too much stress on sterilising unless it is the first time. Further, they recommend it is washed thoroughly with simple soap and hot water.  Sterilising however helps to keep your baby free from germs and infection. There are three varieties that can be found in the market-cold, microwave and electric and each has its advantages and disadvantages. The one that is most popular though, is the electric steam steriliser as they are the most convenient and bottles remain sterile for 24 hours.

Breast Pump- this is one item that every mother buys with the assumption that at some point she may need it to express milk so someone else can feed the baby too. These come in many varieties rangingfrom manual devices to those that are powered by electricity or batteries. A breast pump should be bought keeping in mind how frequently you want to express milk. For mothers who are getting back to a full time job you need to buy adevice that saves time and is more efficient whereas for those that need to do it only occasionally a manual breast pump works just fine.
