- 1). Locate a breeder in your area. A specialized breeder may know how you can purchase a black chipmunk and refer you to another breeder. If you choose to purchase a common chipmunk, the breeder will be able to tell you the health, breeding information and parents the baby came from.
- 2). Talk to your local exotic vet. Sometimes these vets have connections that can help you in your quest to find a black chipmunk. Even though they are rare, an exotic vet may have some information or direction for you. Keep in mind, though, that chipmunks are not cheap, and the more rare the animal, the more you are going to pay.
- 3). Visit your local exotic pet shop. If the above options have failed, you may be able to find someone at the pet shop that knows of a breeder or another shop you can purchase one from.
