1. Kumon Learning Centers
Philosophy: Kumon started in Japan about 50 years ago. Kumon's goal is to get students performing above their grade level, so most parents use it for enrichment.
However, Kumon offers remedial help as well. Repetition is key in the Kumon program. The program recommends attendance for six months - one year for maximum benefit.
Program: Students attend Kumon twice a week and complete worksheets at home.

Standardized test prep: Kumon does not offer formal test prep but says its students are taught the skills to perform well on tests
Ages: preschool (Junior Kumon)-high school

Subjects: reading, writing, math, phonics, vocabulary, study skills
