Community Care Insurance Benefits

    • Community care insurance benefits are long-term care services going beyond medical care and nursing care. These services include all assistance needed for activities of daily living for individuals with chronic illness or a disability. This assistance for daily living can include facility and community settings.

Young or middle-aged people can receive long-term care, normally meant for older citizens, if they've been in an accident or undergone a debilitating illness.

    Typical Benefits

    • Most community care insurance benefits are comprehensive policies that include services for your home such as nursing care, homemaker care-such as meals and housekeeping services-and occupational and speech therapy.

Typical benefits will provide outside care involving Hospice, alternate-care facilities, nursing home care, Alzheimer's special-care facilities and adult day health care centers. No policy covers all expenses fully.

    Indemnity Benefits

    • Community care insurance benefits offer indemnity, per diem, benefits. These policies provide a fixed amount that doesn't rely on personal expenditures. An expense-incurred policy, the individual can choose a benefit amount based on the reimbursed actual service expenses up to a fixed dollar amount per day, week or month.

    Integrated Policies

    • Depending upon community care insurance, integrated polices (pooled benefits) are a fixed dollar amount based on the different types of policies on a daily, weekly and monthly service expense basis. If the policy amount for benefits is $100,000 and the individual has a monthly cost of $100, then the benefit's period will last for up to 1,000 days. If the monthly service costs are lower, then the benefit's period will last longer.
