Going Green and Saving Money Too!

Everywhere you look these days it seems that the main message is, "go green and save money.
" This message will appeal to most people as constantly we are warned of the dire consequences of global warming getting out of control and the overall greenhouse effect.
There are endless opportunities now for improving the way we live and going green doesn't have to be at a cost, no you can definitely go green and even save money at the same time too.
If you want to do your bit to help save the planet, to help save the environment and to save money at the same time, then it just obviously makes sense all round don't you think?.
Yes you can go green and save money just about anywhere.
Your own home is probably the most obvious place to start, but you can also make changes with your car, at your place of work, whilst you are out shopping or travelling on vacation, and much more too.
Your home is most probably not insulated properly so that you loose heat to the open air during the winter months and it will need cooling during the summer.
Because of this most of us have to turn up the heating during winter heaters and in summer we turn to air conditioning units.
So are all your windows tight? Are the door seals tight too? This is where heat can leak out and make your electricity bills soar.
Perhaps this should be the first place you give consideration to if you want to go green and save money.
Your walls can have their cavities filled with insulating foam holding the heat inside in winter and outside in summer for more comfortable living.
Did you know that getting your home properly insulated is one of the best ways to go green and save money? Do you have your hot water pipes insulated? If it is your aim to go green and save money, they should be.
By insulating your hot water pipes the hot water reaches the faucets faster, it therefore saves on water, while you go green and save money too.
Leaking faucets, even just the occasional drip, accounts for a lot of water being wasted over time.
Look for outside leaks too, you could waste quite a few gallons of water in a week! The water you use in the home is perhaps the easiest "go green and save money" source you have.
Low flow toilets are another way to save water.
You don't need to flush gallons of water away every time, just what you need.
You have by now heard of the new compact fluorescent light bulbs, bulbs that use a mere 25% of the energy used by a traditional light bulb.
They last 10 times longer too! Replace all your traditional bulbs for compact fluorescent light bulbs ..
