Simple Garden Craft Ideas
- Simple craft ideas can add a personal touch to a well-planned garden. You can add to the beauty of your small garden or patio garden by using fake rocks, wind chimes and even fairy houses. This also tends to attract butterflies and birds to your garden, which are important for pollination.
When choosing your crafts, placing just anything in the garden will not make it look appealing. You must identify what will make your garden stand out, yet still be safe for your kids and pets. For lighting, you can use tin cans as candle or bulb holders, but first paint them using rust-proof paint, and keep them at a height that is out of reach of young children and pets. Create a sitting space in your garden by incorporating a bench with planters. Placing your potted plants at different heights with the help of stands, either free standing or stuck to the wall, can add more space to your garden.
If you have planted many different seeds or seedlings at the same time, mark them with handcrafted plant markers for easy identification. Find a thick wooden stick that you can insert into your pot easily; it should not sway in light winds or get affected by daily watering. Paste a picture of the plant you have sown, such as a tomato or a hibiscus, on a cardboard and glue this to the wooden stick. This way, even with just the foliage, you will be able to identify which plant it is, and water and apply manure accordingly.
Applying faux-paint designs to your ceramic pots will make them look great indoors and also increase their shelf life. - Accessorize your garden according to the season. During Christmas time, you can add dollhouses. During spring/autumn, create a butterfly garden by having as many flower plants as possible. For summer, place fountains and other water bodies such as urns to keep the garden cool. In the rainy season, instead of lanterns, seats or urns, keep the pots you have put your new plants in, as this is the best time to expand your garden.
- If you keep a water body or sphere, remember to change the water once in a while, lest it starts to stink. Solar power lights in your garden can help you save on your electric bills.
