The Need For Wood Pellet Stoves To Lower Oil Spill Risks And Our Dependence On Oil

As you cannot fail to be aware there is currently a huge oil spill occurs off the US gulf coast, and the spill has yet has still not been completely controlled and is polluting the south coast affecting fishermen and the tourism industry around Florida. One of the key reasons for the disaster is relative inexperience of such deep sea drilling. It also highlights the need for alternative such as wood pellet stoves to reduce our dependence on oil.

The BP disaster was from drilling at depths of around 5000m, much lower than we really have much experience of drilling, but the value of oil is making it worth the risk to these oil companies due to our constant demand for oil and gas. Some oil companies are even trying to drill below 10,000m, which will obviously bring even higher risks.

The point is as long as we buy cars which drink fuel and we continue to waste energy on a daily basis, we are all responsible for creating a demand so great that companies are willing to take such risks to source more and more oil.

Through reducing the amount of energy we waste, and use alternatives, we can kick the habit of using oil. Alternatives such as wood pellet stoves can make up part of the new energy mix, even using local fuels to heat homes and businesses.

Wood pellet stoves are an evolution of the basic wood heating systems people depended on before installing gas and oil heaters. Wood pellet stoves are more efficient and automated meaning they can fit in better within the modern lifestyle.

Features which all wood pellet stoves have is an integrated hopper which holds the fuel, and feeds it into the fire when necessary to regulate temperature. This means there is very little work required to own and run a wood pellet stove.
