My KitchenAid KUDC03IVBL Arms Are Not Spinning
- It is important to load the KitchenAid dishwasher properly to accomplish the desired wash results. Allowing items to hang down from the upper rack or setting tall items upright in the bottom rack prevent the spray arms from spinning. Use the clips and tines in the upper rack to secure items in the top rack and tilt tall or oversized items in the bottom rack so that they face down and do not block the spray tower.
- The utensil basket hangs down from the KitchenAid Dishwasher in the bottom rack. While proper placement and loading of the basket should not present a problem, placing tall items in the basket can obstruct the spray arms. If necessary, place tall items lengthwise in the upper rack for cleaning.
- Dishwasher spray arms work by pulling water into the spray tower and then forcing the water through the jets on the spray arms. This provides enough force to move the arms. If the jets are clogged, the spray arms cannot spin. Look at each spray jet, especially if something dripped or spilled inside the dishwasher and coated the jets with a residue. Use a paper clip to remove any debris or residue, but use caution so as not to damage the jet.
- Run the water in the sink closest to the dishwasher and pay attention to how fast or hard the water comes out. If the water supply seems low, the water pressure may be too low and this prevents spray arms from rotating. While enterprising owners can use a water pressure gauge to check the household water for appropriate pressure -- between 20 and 120 psi -- this may be a job for a professional plumber.
- If all efforts to identify the reason for the problem have failed and the spray arms continue to stand still, there may be damage to the spray tower itself. Check the spray tower to look for any debris that is preventing the spray tower from moving and tap it firmly to see if it is stuck in position. If this too fails, contact KitchenAid for assistance, as the spray tower or arms may need replacing.
