More Than One
It takes more than one to fulfil divine destiny!
A close look at our best example for humanity proves this truth for our own profit!
Our best example is the Lord Jesus Christ!
Divine destiny is simply the divine assignment set out for a person or people.
Before He came to this world, he needed different kinds of people to foretell of his coming as recorded in the Old Testament of the bible.
2 Peter 1:19, 20, 21
And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
He needed to have a human virgin mother through whom He was to be born into this world (Luke 1:26-38).
He needed angels to herald His birth (Luke 2:8-15).
Most importantly He needed a close and deep intimacy with the Heavenly Father to carry out His divine assignment.
John 5:19, 20
Jesus gave them this answer: "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does.
For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.
John 10:30
I and the Father are one."
This is the most important relationship for fulfillment of divine destiny.
And this relationship is accessible to anyone and everyone who is in Christ.
Naturally everyone was born in sin outside Christ even the most religious and moral!
Being born in sin means that one is imprisoned therein against the fulfillment of one's divine destiny!
But when one receives Christ Jesus as one's personal Lord and Saviour, one becomes a person in Christ.
Anyone in Christ is a new creature who now has this special relationship!
2 Cor.5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
John 1:12, 13
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-
children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
Christ becomes one's first love.
As one gives Christ one's first love, the relationship remains productive in terms of one's divine destiny!
The products of such an intimacy with the Lord are one's first works for Him and with Him!
Rev.2:4, 5
Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.
Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
He needed twelve apostles to continue His earthy mission after He had ascended to the Heavenly Father.
Luke 6:13
When morning came, he called his disciples to him and chose twelve of them, whom he also designated apostles:
Anyone in Christ also needs other members of the body of Christ (His church) to fulfil divine destiny.
Rom.12:4, 5
Just as each of us has one body with many members and these members do not all have the same function,
so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
Surely one tree however strong and fruitful cannot make a forest!
One also to fulfil divine destiny needs the ministry of heavenly angels.
Heb.1:14
Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
He needed His enemies to conspire against Him so as to kill Him so that He could pay the price of our redemption on the cross.
Likewise all things including opposition work toward for good for the lovers and the called of God.
Through any opposition they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them.
It should no longer shock or confuse or upset anyone that those cry €Hosanna!' today as €friends' of one's divine destiny should howl €Crucify Him!' tomorrow as €fiends' of one's divine destiny!
Rom.8:28,37
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
Surely it takes more than one to fulfil divine destiny on earth!
Eccl.4:9-12
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their work:
If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
