Some Interesting Facts About Polar Bears

Polar bears are creatures at the top of the Arctic Circle and reside in cold, open water environments.
They are carnivorous and the largest among all meat-eating species on the planet.
These are large mammals as an adult male they may weigh up to 1700 lbs and can grow up to 10 feet in length.
A female may weigh up to 650 lbs, a size that is quite bigger as compared to other female meat-eating species in the world.
They are quite different from other types of bears that you may generally come to see.
Their bodies are wrapped up with white fur and black skin which keep them warm under extremely cold environments.
Their blubber can warm them up to deal with the cold during the winter.
They have huge and stout feet.
By using their big feet, they can easily swim the icy waters of their homes.
They use their front paws to swim forward and back paws to alter the direction.
They can walk across the snow using their claws.
It helps them to walk without sliding and slipping.
Though surrounded by fur and black skin, you can also see their small ears, short tails and long necks.

They are mostly seen on the shore, but during the winter when the ocean freezes, they find it comfortable to hunt seals on the icy surface.
They even swim below the ice stacks to trace seals.
When the weather starts to get warmer, they move back to the shore.
They use their 42 sharp and curved teeth to chew the flesh.
Unless they run after their prey, polar bears usually love to walk slowly to preserve their energy in the cold.
An interesting fact about polar bears is that they often meet each other by touching their nose to say hello.
They are very fun-loving creatures and often love to act silly by covering their faces with their paws and then start rolling around the snow.
Though these creatures can swim faster in the icy water, they rarely walk long distances.
They love to spend their time sleeping.
Polar bears love to keep themselves clean by taking regular baths in the cold water of the Arctic Ocean.
The baby polar bears are born in snow caves during the winter.
An interesting fact about female polar bear is that they always give birth to twin cubs.
Most of the baby bears like to stay inside the den for at least eight months.
During that time period, the cubs drink milk from their mother and cuddle close to her to stay warm.
The baby bears weigh up to one pound and as soon as they start growing, they leave the cave.
The mommy polar bears nourish the cubs and guide them on how to swim and will also play with them.
It helps the cubs to grow faster and stronger.
