How to Host a Tea Party for Kids
- 1). SEND THE INVITATIONS -- The first step in hosting your tea party is sending out the invitations. Make the invitations yourself to save money. You can also make them in the shape of a tea cup or tea pot. Do a search online for "free printable tea party invitations" and you should find lots of ideas! Make sure you state that this is a formal party and that guest need to wear their best party dresses (or shirts and ties if inviting boys).
- 2). SET UP FOR THE PARTY -- A tea party is all about feeling grown up. Set the table with a nice table cloth and bring out the fancy dishes. If you are afraid of breaking grandma's china you can go to any dollar store and buy some cheap tea cups. You could even give them to the kids to take home as a party favor! Put flowers on the table and make each place setting as special as it can be. And use real napkins!
- 3). WELCOME YOUR GUESTS -- On the day of the tea party be sure you are ready to welcome your guests properly. Plan a little welcome speech in advance and have someone escort each guest to their seat at the table. Make sure you have a little place card so each guest knows where they are going to sit.
- 4). SERVE THE TEA AND TREATS -- When all your guests have arrived it's time to serve your tea. You should also serve some fancy little sandwiches and fancy cakes or cookies. I have some money saving gourmet cookie tips in the resource section of this article to give you some ideas.
- 5). PLAY SOME GAMES -- Try to think up games that are appropriate for a tea party like croquet or a formal dance. Let the kids put on a play in the living room. Spur of the moment games are always fun!
- 6). THANK YOUR GUESTS -- When it time for your guests to leave be sure you thank them kindly for coming to your tea party. Have a special gift bag ready to give each guest so they can take it home. Fill it with fun items that will give them memories of your party. You could include a tea bag, some cookies, some little dollar store toys and tuck in a photo of the host that has the back signed and dated!
