Mature Dating - Dating in the Retirement Stage of Life

"Today, 56 percent of Americans over the age of 65 are not married, and more than 73 percent have vibrant dating and sex lives during their later years, according to Retirement Living TV (excerpted from "Retirement Dating: 101," by Allison Bond) So, you're a mature dating senior and you are ready to get back into the dating seeking world.
What do you do? What should your first step be? One important thing to remember is that even though there is no risk of pregnancy, you do have a very real risk of STD's.
You need to take into account how long you have been out of the dating game and evaluate what you've been missing in regard to dating etiquette.
As a mature senior single, you have a wealth of life experience that you can offer a prospective date and if you are planning on dating someone who is within your age range, this person will also have a wealth of life experience to bring into the dating seeking relationship.
This combined life experience can lead to a great emotionally mature relationship that you both will enjoy.
But how to you get started? One important step is to take stock of your current life situation and evaluate where you are looking to go in regards to relationships.
Are you looking to find a partner who is interested in a casual dating relationship or are you looking to find a partner who is interested in a long-term committed relationship? Once you ascertain this aspect of your goals, you have covered a huge hurdle.
You need to know the direction you want to walk towards before you start walking.
Where is your living environment? Are you still living in your own home? Are you living in an apartment or an assisted living environment? Are you living in a retirement community? This is an important aspect of planning your method to find a love.
Where you live is important because it will be the ultimate deciding factor in how you go about meeting other available mature senior singles.
If you are living in your old neighborhood in your home where you have lived with your first husband or wife, do you know a lot of the neighbors? Are there other available prospective singles living close by? If not, you can try to join local community groups and volunteer with a goal of helping the organization you are volunteering for, but also trying to meet new people.
Join a local book club or art group.
Try to learn a new hobby.
Do you live in an assisted living environment? If you do, then you have a lot of opportunity for community living and recreational social activities.
This is also true if you live in a retirement community.
Many married couples move retirement communities, but not everyone living in such communities happens to be married.
Just venture out and try to make new friends.
You never know when the day will be just perfect for meeting you new partner.
