How to Donate a Car to a Canadian Charity
- 1). Contact the Canadian charity to whom you want to donate your vehicle. Charity Car, the Canadian Diabetes Association and Online Car Donation accept donated vehicles from both Canada and the United States, providing donors with the appropriate income tax forms for their donations. Donation companies represent hundreds of Canadian charities from which you can choose to donate your car.
- 2). Fill out the online donation from provided by the donation company you are using. You need to enter your name, address, email address, phone number and all vehicle information, including make, model, year, mileage, Vehicle Identification Number and the condition of the vehicle.
- 3). Select from the list of charities that accept vehicle donations. This step only applies if you are using a donation company rather than donating directly to your charity of choice. Sign your vehicle title over to your chosen charity to release you from ownership and liability.
- 4). Submit your application and schedule a date and time for pick-up or drop-off of your vehicle. Not all Canadian donation companies or charities pick up donated vehicles in the United States. Check with your company before you commit to your donation.
