Free Reverse Cell Phone Search - Why is Finding Such a Service So Difficult? Are They Really Free?

How do you find the name of a person by using his/her cell phone number? This is a common question people ask all the time on online forums, chat rooms etc.
Some people think it's not possible just because the white pages don't have it! Well that's not true.
Just because the white pages doesn't list cellular numbers, doesn't mean you can't find them at all.
So why doesn't the white pages have mobile numbers on it anyways? Because mobile phones are not land phones! Cellular vs Fixed Phones - Cell phones are wireless and land phones are wired! We all know this.
However, this is not the only difference when it comes to these two types of telephone connections.
The latter is not considered so personal (at least by the law) and freely published on telephone directories.
The former (mobile phones) is considered much more 'personal' and thus not published on free phone books.
Wireless 411 Privacy Act - This is one such 'act' that is there for the protection of privacy rights of wireless phone subscribers.
If cell numbers were indeed published on free telephone directories, it would be only a matter of time before the telemarketers got their hands on the information and there will be no more privacy! What information can you get for free? - As you will understand by now, if personal information on cellular phone subscribers is given out for free, that will be against the law and there will be no more privacy! Therefore what you can get for free is really limited information like
  • Cell phone carrier information (e.
    g.
    Verizon, T-mobile etc.
    )
  • Location of registration (city and state)
As you will agree, handing out above two pieces of information does not interfere with anybody's privacy and thus can be given out for free.
However, if you want to find out the name, age, addresses, family information etc about mobile phone users, you have no option but to pay for that information!
