How to Throw a "Monsters Vs. Aliens" Birthday Party
- 1). Use single gelatin packets that contain blueberry gelatin as invitations. Use a blue gel pen to write the details of the party such as time and place on them. Sign the bottom of the invitation as "Your friend Bob the Blob." Or hit your local party store and pick up some Monsters Vs. Aliens party invitations.
- 2). Use a bright color scheme such as yellow, light blue, orange and lime green to decorate the room. Create bouquets of neon balloons with colorful curling ribbon and place throughout the room. Allow some neon balloons with long ribbons to float to the ceiling. Drape colorful streamers that match your color scheme from one wall to the next. A Monsters Vs. Aliens party pack includes everything you need for this party theme such as dinnerware, napkins, tablecloth, balloons and confetti.
- 3). Play games that were inspired from the movie. In the beginning of the movie, there are Antarctic scientists who combat their boredom with a bouncy ball competition. Give each of your guests a paddle with a bouncy ball attached to it. Instruct your guests to bounce the ball as long as they can. Regardless of who wins, give all of the children a medium-sized bouncy ball that they can take home. Or use a large poster of B.O.B to play pin the eye on B.O.B. Make an eye with some cardstock and markers. Your guests will also love cracking open a Monsters vs. Aliens piñata.
- 4). Set out art supplies such as watercolor paints and paint brushes, markers or crayons so your guests can create posters. In the movie, Susan is imprisoned by the government in a small cell and has a kitten poster hanging on the wall to cheer up the room. Instruct your guests to create a poster and hang them up on the wall.
- 5). Serve food inspired from the movie such as bright blue cyclops cookies or cupcakes that have one eyeball on them just like B.O.B. does. To make the eye, cut a large marshmallow in half and attach it to the cookie with icing. Place a red M&M on top and use a miniature chocolate chip for a pupil. Another popular finger food is green and blue jello that are shaped liked the characters in the movie. Other popular choices include popcorn dyed green or blue, gummy green aliens and colorful gummy bugs.
- 6). Send your guests home with a cellophane bag of party favors that include Monsters Vs. Aliens sticker sheet, lime green candy or candy goo, washable tattoos of the characters, small UFOs and an alien toy puppet. Other possibilities include a sparkly rock like the meteorite that hit Susan.
