How to Unclog Clogged Pores
- 1). Use an exfoliant once a week. Exfoliating micro-beads get deep down where your hands cannot. On the other six days of the week, use a soft but textured cloth to wash your face with. Do not scrub, just wipe gently. Remember to use make-up remover on your eyes to avoid scrubbing because scrubbing your eyes can cause wrinkles.
- 2). Use steam to clean out all your pores. Boil a pot of water; you can add essential oils like lavender for an added touch, but it's not necessary. Carefully place the pot of boiling water on a heat resistant surface. Lean over the pot of hot water with a towel over your head, directing all the steam into your face. Switch positions, or take breaks, to avoid getting too overheated. After five to 10 minutes, all your pores will be opened. Use an astringent to clean your face. Once you are done, finish with cold water to close your pores. Any dirt in your pores will have been washed away with the steam. An alternative to boiling the pot of water is to use the steam room at your gym for the same affect.
- 3). Don't forget pore-shrinking masks. To supplement exfoliating and steam cleaning, you can also use store bought or homemade pore shrinking masks. These masks will help clean out your pores and leave them fresh and revitalized between deep cleaning washes.
