How to Replace Seat Covers

    • 1). Take off the headrest by pressing on the release button near the base of the headrest. If your headrests do not have a release button, you can insert your screwdriver into the release catch to remove the headrest from the seat.

    • 2). Enter the back seat and push the seat back forward to create ample space in which to work.

    • 3). Locate the opening of the seat cover section that is meant to cover the seat back and pull it over the top of the seat back. Wriggle the seat cover over the seat back, pulling it down until it reaches the gap between the seat back and seat bottom; the cover should fit snugly.

    • 4). Pull seat bottom cover over the seat bottom until the edge of the cover reaches the gap between the seat bottom and back.

    • 5). Tuck the elastic loops that stick out of the bottom of the seat back cover into the gap between the seat back and the seat bottom.

    • 6). Insert the hook of your wire hanger into the gap between the seat back and seat bottom, from the back to the front. Fish around with the hook until it grabs onto one of the elastic loops. Pull the loop through the back of the gap using the hanger. Repeat with the other loop.

    • 7). Attach S-hooks to both elastic loops and pull the loops underneath the seat, hooking the S-hooks to metal hardware beneath the seat.

    • 8). Feel for the headrest holes beneath the seat covers and mark their locations with a visible dot. Cut a hole about a half-inch long on top of the dot using the small, sharp knife. Replace headrests to finish the job.
