2012 Regulatory Challenges in the Environmental Industry

Many people say that we need more regulation in the energy sector, especially with fossil fuels, fracking, oil and gas, and coal.
Okay, but what goes around comes around.
In fact, there are so many regulations it's almost impossible for anyone to build a refinery United States, therefore the supply and demand curve shows that we will have increased prices for our fuel.
It's our own fault.
Some might say increased prices for fuel is good because it will cause people to buy smaller cars, hybrid cars, or maybe even switch to natural gas, or battery powered vehicles.
Nevertheless, if you are powering your car by battery, the electricity has to come from somewhere, and that means that the energy generation plants will probably run on coal or natural gas.
Yes, it's true some run from nuclear power, hydropower, solar power, and wind.
But the reality is that the bulk of it runs from coal and more and more natural gas, specifically because the price of gas has come down due to efficient fracking strategies.
So, do we really want more regulations on fracking, as that will increase the price of natural gas, therefore energy will cost more, and thus, it would cost more to charge up your plug-in car.
If you think regulation in the energy sector is good, I would submit to you that it is also hurting alternative energy.
Giant solar farms are being delayed because of the Desert Turtle, which environmentalists are trying to save.
Those desert turtles have been wandering around the desert looking for water for generations, perhaps 1000 years, there is none to be found, so they wander aimlessly, but it is a strong species able to adapt and survive.
Still, the environmentalists think they're going to save these creatures, and therefore you can't have your solar farms, even after taxpayer money has been used in guaranteeing loans or gifting those grants.
Of course there are other issues, and tax credits are ending for wind turbine generators, ethanol, and solar panels that you might put on your house.
There are all sorts of environmental lawsuits being brought against wind turbines, wind farms, solar farms, hydroelectric plants, and geothermal plants.
2012 is bringing lots of regulatory scrutiny to the energy sector, and even the alternative energy sector.
Perhaps the environmentalist should be careful what they wish for, because as I said what goes around comes around, and it is coming around a lot faster than some of those wind turbine blades that are sitting out in the desert near us completely idle when the wind doesn't blow.
Please consider all this and think on it.
