If you are looking for a chicken coop plan that is simple and cheap you have came to the right place.
If you are like me, you enjoy the extra security that comes from raising your own chickens.
It's not even so much for the eggs or the meat but for the fact that I don't have to count on the government or worry so much about the economy.
Whatever your reasons are, there are some very important things to consider before you start construction of your new chicken coop.
Chicken Coop Plan of Attack- Be sure you can answer these questions:

• How many chickens are you going to have- Having your chickens too cramped is very bad for them and can lead to stress and disease.
  It is a pretty good idea to allow at least 4 square feet per chicken that you are planning on having.
  My advice would be to build bigger than what you think you are going to need.
  I can't tell you how many times I have built a new coop and within a couple of months I was sorry that I didn't build it bigger.
  
• What is your weather like- If you live in an area that experiences extreme cold and long winters it is vitally important that you have a very well built structure that is as wind and water proof as possible.
  On the other hand, if you live in an area that has extreme heat, the sturdiness may not be as important but you are going to need to give some special attention to making sure your birds have plenty of shade.
  
• Is your Coop properly ventilated- This one confuses a lot of people and is easy to get wrong.
  Remember that well ventilated does not mean drafty.
  Chickens can adapt to a lot of different environment but they do need to be able to get fresh air.
  I live in an environment that can be brutally hot in the summer and bitterly cold in the winter and I have went as far as putting ventilation ducts in some of the coops I have built recently.
  
• Can it be easily cleaned- I am kind of clean freak when it comes to my chicken house.
  I just feel better if they are kept clean.
  With that in mind, I construct my backyard chicken coop so that it is easy to clean and easy to maintain.
  Believe me; a little extra thought into this step will save you countless hours in the future.
  
• What's your budget- The simplest thing to do is go out and buy a portable chicken house but this can be out of the budget for a lot of people.
  The most satisfying thing is to build your own.
  There are hundreds of online plans but be sure the chicken coop plan you are buying has actually been used by the person selling them to you.
