How to Treat Snoring With Home Remedies

Things You'll Need

Instructions

1

Refrain from drinking alcohol right before you go to bed. The alcohol can relax your throat enough that your tongue falls back toward it, which leads to snoring.
2

Elevate your bed so that your head and torso are at least 6 inches higher than the rest of your body. This will keep your tongue from sliding back toward your throat and causing you to snore.
3

Put on some store-bought nasal strips. These open up your nasal passageways, helping you to breathe easier, which makes you less likely to snore.
4

Sleep on your side or your stomach, not your back. Sleeping on your back puts your tongue and throat in the perfect positions for snoring.
5

Avoid eating dairy products right before going to bed. Dairy causes mucus to form in your nose and throat, and if you get too much of this in your throat before bed, it can lead to snoring.
6

Refrain from eating heavy meals within 3 hours of going to bed. Laying down soon after eating a heavy meal may cause acid reflux. The action of the acid going back up into your throat can lead to snoring, not to mention damage to the esophagus.
