Feb. 6, 2014 - What's new in the world of golf shoes? In early 2014, there are new models either already at retail or on the way soon - one pair by adidas, plus two more from Puma. Below is a brief look at these new options for golfers:

adidas adizero one

The adidas adizero one (adidas spells the entire name lower-case) golf shoe is a follow-up to adidas' adizero Tour. The goal, according to adidas, was to improve upon the Tour model so that the resulting golf shoes are lighter, yet provide more stability.

The adizero one is the shoe that resulted. It is 10-percent lighter than the adizero Tour model, weighing less than 10 ounces. But the sole is 20-percent wider compared to the Tour. The adizero one outsole has seven cleats rather than the Tour's 10, but in a new pattern than includes a center cleat and that adidas says provides more grip and stability.

The adizero one golf shoe is available in men's styling, four colorways as of Jan. 23, 2014, with aditional color options beginning May 1. The MSRP is $180.

For women, adidas has the adizero Tour II shoe, which incorporates much of the adizero one tech but with a 6-cleat sole. Its MSRP is $120 and it comes in three color schemes. adidasgolf.com

Puma BioFusion Tour Golf Shoes

The BioFusion (Puma spells it all uppercase: BIOFUSION) is the next golf shoe in Puma's LiteStyle line. The LiteStyle shoes aim to provide technical performance in a very lightweight shoe.

The Puma BioFusion shoes provide comfort, breathability and support through a cell-structure upper and FusionFoam midsole.

The outsole is Puma's ultra-thin PowerFrame that gets the foot closer to the ground for more responsiveness and flexibility.

The BioFusion is available in four color combos: Vibrant Orange/White; Black/White/Puma Silver; White/Tradewinds/Fluo Yellow; and White/Black. Two sets of laces are provided with each shoe, in two different colors, allowing for some color-coordination.

Puma BioFusion Mesh Spikeless Golf Shoes

Another new golf shoe by Puma carrying the BioFusion name is the BioFusion Mesh Spikeless, lighter than the BioFusion Tour.

The Mesh Spikeless features a waterproof mesh upper (one-year waterproof guarantee) and Everfoam, a slow-recovery memory foam, and is styled to be worn on or off the course.

The BioFusion Spikeless Mesh reaches retail outlets on March 1, 2014, with an MSRP of $120. It comes in three color combos: Fluo Yellow/Black/White; Tradewinds/White/Lime Green; and Black/White/Vibrant Orange. pumagolf.com
