How to Get Rid of Fancy Mice

    • 1). Avoid setting pet mice loose outdoors. According to the Rat & Mouse Club of America, pet mice that are released outdoors tend to die quickly due to exposure, predators or starvation. They do not know how to take care of themselves in the wild.

    • 2). Ask your friends, family members or coworkers if they would like to have your mice. If you find someone who is interested, visit his house to ensure that your mice will have a safe environment. Provide the new owner with careful instructions about the mices' housing and dietary needs, as well as how to keep them safe and healthy.

    • 3). Ask your veterinarian if you can post a notice in her office that advertises free fancy mice to a good home. If possible, include a picture of your fancy mice on the flyer. List the ages of the mice, condition of their health and general care requirements.

    • 4). Take your fancy mice to a no-kill animal shelter if you are still unable to find a good home for them. At a no-kill shelter, your mice will receive the care they need while waiting for an adoptive home.
