How to Replace Moen Faucet Cartridges
- 1). Shut off the water supply by turning the valve to the right. The water main is generally located in an adjacent room or in the basement near the water heater. Lift up the faucet handle to empty any water still in the lines.
- 2). Pry off the plastic cap that conceals the screw on the faucet handle with a flat head screwdriver. Remove the screw with a Phillips head screwdriver and take off the handle. Loosen the screws securing the escutcheon plate on the wall with a flat head screwdriver.
- 3). Grab hold of the retaining clip with needlenose pliers and lift it up.The retaining clip is on the top portion of the valve cartridge and secures it.
- 4). Pull the valve cartridge out with needlenose pliers. Push the cartridge into the opening and make sure the manufacturer's logo is on top. The grooves on the cartridge should line up on the valve body and it should snap into place.
- 5). Replace the escutcheon plate and secure the screws with a screwdriver. Secure the screws in the faucet handle with a Phillips head screwdriver. Restore the water supply and check the operation of the faucet.
