Fluids

• Fluids are the most important aspect of helping a constipated feline. Giving the cat more water is a good home remedy, as is milk or prune juice.

• Switching the type of food given to the cat is another possibility. Sometimes dry food may cause constipation, in which case switching to a canned brand of cat food can remedy the constipation problem immediately; wetter food is better.
  
  

Pumpkin

• According to Dr. Andrew Jones, a tablespoon of canned pumpkin is a home remedy that can be used to relieve constipation in cats.
  
  

Oat Bran

• A sprinkle of oat bran in the cat's food will help constipation as well. Continue to give the cat oat bran until regularity is restored.
  
  

Mineral Oil

• Mineral oil is another home remedy. This will improve the constipation without causing diarrhea.
