Removing Shower Faucet Cover Plates

    • 1). Shut off the water to the faucet by closing the home's main water line at your water heater.

    • 2). Take out the cap on top of the handle with a knife blade. Unscrew the screw under this cap with a Phillips head screwdriver or Allen wrench, which ever fits the screw head. Slide the handle off the faucet by pulling it off the faucet's stem. The stem is the part below the handle.

    • 3). Unscrew the screws in the shower plate with a screwdriver by turning them counterclockwise. There are screws on either side of the faucet handle, remove both of them.

    • 4). Pull the shower plate away from the shower wall, once you take the screws out. Remove the shower trim sleeve, if your faucet has one.

    • 5). Unscrew the mounting bracket plate screws with a screwdriver and remove the plate, if your faucet has a mounting bracket.
