The 5 Step System To Looking Thinner In Pictures
We've all done it before. Worn the baggy t-shirt and posed with a huge smile on our face, only for our image to appear twice our size, with huge thighs and a triple chin! Does that hit a chord? Did it make you flinch?
Not to despair because help is at hand! With my top 5 'Looking Great in Pictures' tips below you will never see that image again.
The Posing Tips:
Tip 1:
Don't stand to attention the same way every time. When posing for a photograph don't stand front on (like everyone does!). Instead tilt your body at an angle, and you will slice your size in half.
Tip 2:
Wear a darker color in the largest parts of your body. If you have have a huge gut or a big behind, try and wear the darker color on this part of your body. Now I don't always recommend reaching for the color black, as this can make your skin looked washed out - unless the lighting is really good. If you're shooting in doors or in less than bright light, various tones of navy blue, medium- to dark gray, plum, and deep purples would look great.
Tip 3:
If you're sitting down in a shot, shift your body a bit forward, or sit at the edge of the seat and turn your body at a slight angle. By sitting forward you don't take up as much visual space, and the angled body will again look slimmer than a front on pose.
Tip 4:
Avoid big prints like the plague! Large and print patterns are a lethal combination if you're trying to improve your photo appeal. Smaller prints or items of the same color will reduce your visual size.
Tip 5:
Try and get your photographer to take the shot from a slightly higher angle rather than at the same level as you. Again this will have the effect of reducing your visual size. Avoid the opposite - i.e. low angled shot where the photographer is looking up at you.
