We all go through times of sadness and times of joy.
Empty nesters often feel sad or blue when they are faced with the challenges of being older and the lack of companionship and interaction provided by one's children in the execution of their daily lives.
It is also normal to feel blue with a marriage break-up or the loss of a loved one through death.
The problems arise when one becomes entranced in sadness and finds it increasingly difficult to shake it.
This leads to feeling of melancholy and can be emotionally as well as physically exhausting.

Sleep, appetite, sexual intimacy and energy can all be affected in a big way.
The facts are that depression can markedly affect all areas of one's life and health and impact in a very negative way.

Clinical depression is when sadness seems to arrive out of nowhere or with no particular reason.
It is often accompanied by rapid onset.
For sufferers of clinical depression it is vitally important to seek professional help as soon as possible.
There are many treatment options open to you and you can get help.
For others, it is important to remember that it is normal to feel depressed and unhappy when experiencing such changes in your personal life.
During these stressful times; keep in mind that it is imperative to have a nutrition centered outlook.
Eat a balanced blend of proteins, fruits and veggies.
Don't forget to add complex carbs to your diet which can help to boost the serotonin levels in your brain and have a 'feel good' effect.
It is recommended to eat smaller portions with a frequency of 5 or 6 times daily.
