How to Make a 3-Dimensional House out of a Shoebox
- 1). Tape all bent edges of the shoebox with masking tape for strength.
- 2). Cut a piece of poster board the length and width of the shoebox. Cut a 2-inch by 2-inch square in the center on one side of the piece of poster board.
- 3). Balance the shoebox on one long side with the open side facing you. Tape the piece of poster board to the short sides of the inside of the box half way up to create a second floor for the miniature dollhouse.
- 4). Cut a 2-inch by 8-inch strip of cardboard poster board. Fold it eight times, every inch accordion style, to create a staircase.
- 5). Tape the staircase to the bottom of the inside of the dollhouse and tape the top of the staircase to the top floor at the left edge of the cut out square.
- 6). Cut a piece of poster board the height of the dollhouse and the depth of the inside of the shoebox. Cut the poster board in half and tape each piece to the dollhouse floors and ceilings to create rooms.
- 7). Paint the interior rooms of the dollhouse different colors with the poster paint.
- 8). Paint the exterior of the dollhouse, painting a door and windows on the bottom of the shoebox.
- 9). Fill the dollhouse with miniature dollhouse furniture.
