How to Get Rid of Acne Without Products
- 1). Get the water temperature just right. Turn on the hot water tap and wait for the water to be just a little bit hotter than you would normally find comfortable for a hot shower. This will probably mean water that isn't too hot for your hands, but is just a little uncomfortably hot on your face. Do not use water that is painfully hot, as it is possible to get water at dangerous and even scalding temperatures from some home taps.
- 2). Soak the washcloth in hot water and wring it out slightly. It should be somewhere between damp and sopping for best effect.
- 3). Apply the washcloth to your face. If the water temperature is right, it should be a little uncomfortable at first, but start to feel pleasant after a few seconds. If this is not the case, the water is either too cool or too hot and should be adjusted.
- 4). Hold the washcloth over areas of your skin affected with acne. The heat of the water will open your pores and allow for the cleansing of oils, dirt, dead skin cells and bacteria trapped inside.
- 5). Apply fresh hot water and repeat. Pay special attention to problem areas and areas where the skin is more likely to collect oil or isn't stretched flat, such as the skin of your forehead, near your hairline, around the corners of your nose, and around your mouth and chin.
- 6). Wash your face with your usual soap as normal. Do this immediately after the application of hot water. A basic soap, at least, is needed to help reduce acne as it will break up oil, though body soaps that are detergent-based may leave your skin dry. The scrubbing motion, which is enhanced if you use a washcloth, exfoliates dead skin and helps remove other particles.
