- 1). Write your whole number. Whole numbers would be any numbers such as one, two, three, etc. that do not have a decimal or fraction.
- 2). Place your decimal point. Even if your currency amount is a whole number it is a good idea to place the decimal and at least two places after the decimal.
- 3). Write your remainder or decimal out. This is the portion of your currency amount that is after the decimal point. For example, if your total is one dollar and twelve cents you would put the one before the decimal and the twelve after it.
- 4). Write the abbreviation for your money amount. All world currencies also have an abbreviation or currency code as well as a symbol; use the appropriate abbreviation for your currency (see References for a list).
