How to Fix a Wood Strip Peeling off of Furniture

    • 1). Scrape off the glue from the furniture with a utility knife or metal putty knife if the veneer strip has come loose from the furniture. Scrape as lightly as possible to prevent any damage to the furniture. Don't try to remove the glue from the veneer strip because you could damage it. Skip this step if the veneer strip is still attached to the furniture so you don't inadvertently damage the veneer in the process.

    • 2). Apply yellow carpenter's glue or wood glue to both the veneer strip and the furniture. If the veneer strip is still attached to the furniture, pick up the glue with a hypodermic needle or a thin utility knife and carefully apply the glue in the gap between the furniture and the strip.

    • 3). Press the veneer strip and the furniture together and wipe off any excess glue with a paper towel.

    • 4). Lay a piece of wax paper and a block of wood over the repair to help adhere the veneer strip to the furniture while the glue is drying. Put a C-clamp over the block and tighten it down to the piece of furniture to flatten the repaired area and leave it overnight or until the glue completely dries.

    • 5). Remove the C-clamp, wax paper and wood block when the glue is dry.
