In 1999, the National Capital Planning commission and the US Commission of fine Arts accredited the site location for the "King Memorial" on the National Mall in Washington. On The year 2011 the 16th day of October, the memorial was launched by President Barack Obama to over ten thousand people who had waited from 6am for the ceremony.
