Drape Idea for a Window Scarf
- A draped scarf is easy and beautiful.
The easiest way to hang your window scarf is to hang the center of the fabric over your curtain rod and drape the body of the scarf over the ends of the curtain rod. Spread the bulk of the center fabric to create a sweeping arc, which is centered along the rod. The ends of the scarf can hang down evenly along each side at any length all the way to the floor, or you can opt to hang the scarf asymmetrically with one tail hanging lower than the other.
This scarf method can be used on its own or along a rod with curtains already hanging on it. If you are adding to the existing curtains on the rod then be sure to select a coordinating scarf to match. You can make more than one swoop in your scarf if you have a larger window by tying tassels or ribbon bows at equal intervals and adjusting the arcs. - Crossing the scarf can create an elegant look.
To add a little interest to your existing tab-top curtains, slip your scarf through the center tabs of your curtains with the curtains closed. With the center of the scarf behind the center tabs, cross the tails of the scarf and sweep them to opposite sides of the curtain rod. Drape the tails over and behind the rod, and let them hang down along the sides of the windows. - Save money by using your curtain as your scarf.
For another quick and easy scarf look without actually using a scarf at all, use your existing curtains. Whether you have tab-top or rod-pocket curtains, you can use this technique as long as the curtains extend to the floor. Begin by crossing one of the curtains over the other and draping it over the curtain rod to look like a scarf. Adjust the swag of the curtain and tails as needed. You can leave this look open only on the one side for a contemporary look, or go ahead and cross the other curtain over to make it even on both sides.
