Yeast Infection Test at Home

A large number of people are plagued by yeast overgrowth in their bodies.
Caused by factors such as a chemical imbalance a yeast infection can be distressing and uncomfortable to say the least.
The infection is agonizing and can cause a lot of soreness and uneasiness especially in women.
People suffering from this problem need not worry however there is good news in that there are several ways to treat this illness.
Before you can embark on the road to treatment you first have to figure out if you have a yeast overgrowth in your body or not.
A yeast infection test aids this process.
Broadly speaking, there are two ways to test for candida infection (yeast overgrowth).
There are the regular medical tests that can be administered by your doctor and are highly recommended.
There is the other option of a simple home test.
It is advisable to do both these tests so that results can be compared to increase the degree of certainty in their results.
A test that you can do in the comfort of your home is the yeast infection saliva test.
For this test you will need an absolutely transparent glass and some water.
This test has to be done before you eat anything, preferably first thing in the morning just after you first wake up.
Make sure you don't eat anything solid or imbibe any liquids at all - not even water.
Fill the glass with the water, collect some sputum in your mouth and spit into the glass.
After about an hour notice the saliva in the glass.
If the saliva has sunk to the bottom of the glass, the severity of your yeast infection is high.
If the saliva is floating on top and none of it is moving downwards, you are free from infection.
If the saliva in the glass is descending downwards in a stringy formation, you do have an infection but it is not that severe.
The saliva test is an excellent way of figuring out whether or not you have a yeast infection because firstly it is cheap, secondly you can do it in the comfort of your own home and thirdly it is quick and easy.
However, if you feel you have a yeast infection it is recommended that apart from the saliva test you also take a regular medical test with a doctor because a saliva tests though accurate in most cases may not necessarily yield correct results.
Also, you have to determine the severity of your condition so that it can be treated appropriately.
