Primetime Emmy Award Winners and Nominations for Talk Shows in 2010

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart grabbed the Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles Aug 29, 2010. The honor marked the eighth consecutive win for the Comedy Central series.
"This is the (eighth) Emmy win in this category for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," announced John Hodgman, a Daily Show regular and Emmys' color commentator.

"I am not sure that the Academy would be so quick to award The Daily Show these things if they knew what we used the Emmys for around the office. Executive Producer Rory Alabanese will accept for the program because Jon Stewart is too busy resting in his bed of melted Emmys."

Daily Show spin-off The Colbert Report walked away with the Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series. The award was handed out during the Creative Arts Emmy ceremony. Colbert thanked his writers on his show in his usual fashion (taking the credit for their work).

Emmy host Jimmy Fallon came up big at the earlier ceremony, too. His Late Night pocketed an Emmy for Outstanding Short-Form Picture Editing and Outstanding Achievement in Interactive Media.

Future TBS talk show host Conan O'Brien notably received four Emmy nods - even though his The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien lasted only six months. Win the nominations were announced in the summer, he humorously tweeted: "Congrats to my staff on 4 Emmy nominations.

This bodes well for the future of The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."
