Thinking About a Major As a Junior in High School

Being a junior in high school, your only two years away from starting college.
Now is the time more than ever to buckle down and get serious.
Thinking about what you are going to major in is becoming more and more important.
If you have not decided on a major, then you need to do so fairly quickly.
They're a different ways you can go about deciding on a major.
One way you can go about trying to figure out what you want to major in is looking at the lists of majors that colleges offer.
They can be very long and boring to look at, but you must apply yourself and do so.
You will see majors ranging from theology to zoology to mechanical engineering.
You will be able to look at this list and narrow out some majors immediately.
For example, if you are a female who loves fashion and modeling, then you can rule out going in to electrical engineering.
You may consider majoring in fashion designing or public relations.
If you are male who is interested in restaurants and loves traveling, you would not major in Arabic or fashion design.
It's very easy to narrow down your major to a few choices if you just spend a few minutes to do so.
Volunteering or getting a summer job at a day camp is another great way to try and find out what you will enjoy majoring in.
If you got a job at a day camp coaching Little League baseball and enjoyed seeing the children's satisfaction in learning how to play the game, then you might enjoy becoming a life coach or possibly a teacher.
Your experiences can lead to view discovering abilities that you never knew you had.
Get out and meet as many people as possible.
Volunteer for as many different jobs as you have time for.
Expand your awareness constantly so you can learn more about yourself.
Brainstorming is another great way to find out what you're passionate about in life.
Ask yourself different questions while you sit down with a piece of paper and pen.
Turn off all TVs, computers, and cell phones while you're brainstorming.
Write down what your interests are and what you are not interested in.
Do you like to read? Do you like to eat out at restaurants? Do you like to learn about space and astronomy? Do you like to learn about history? Do you watch National Geographic and discovery channel? The answer to what you should major in is most likely just a brainstorm away.
