New Year DC Weather Conditions are Coming

The leaves are falling, and the New Year DC is approaching.  The weather still can not decide when it wants to turn cold for good.  The nice warm days of fall are not few and far between yet.  Today is the kind of day that is too warm for the heater yet still to chilly to open a window.  It is a sweatpants and hot chocolate type of day.

I am looking forward to the mail arriving later on because I really love the walk to and from the New Year in DC mailbox.  I enjoy the smell of the air as fall is making it's way to winter slowly but surely.  I love looking at the leaves as they fall from the trees as steadily as snow will be from the sky.  You can not beat the smell of fresh autumn air and acorns and pine cones.

Once the New Year DC approaches, there will likely be blankets of snow covering these orange and red and tan and brown leaves of all shapes.  The distinctive oak leaves will no longer look like anything more than mulch.  The strong cedar trees will stand out along with the tall green pines.  Pine needles will be scattered on the frozen top layer of snow.  All will be quiet other than the wind blowing and the cracking sounds of ice and branches falling from trees in the forest.

On this perfectly chilly day, my cold bottle of water reminds me of the summer time.  I miss the pools and the beaches, but I know that the things to do New Year DC are approaching, and the ice skating rinks will be opening soon.

For now, I am going to enjoy this last bottle of water, for soon I will be drinking warm teas and baking cookies and bread all day long.  It is time to fatten ourselves up until the New Year DC then spend the rest of winter and all into fall hibernating in our houses with movies and popcorn like bears with nuts and berries.  On this warm chilly day, I remember that I will not be wearing this short sleeve shirt again for a few months to come.
