How to Install a Drive Belt in a Kenmore Gas Dryer
- 1). Unplug the dryer power cord. Remove the two screws next to the lint screen compartment. Remove the lint screen.
- 2). Insert the putty knife into the gap between the top panel and front panel. Press the knife blade into the two internal spring clips, which are about 2 inches from each corner.
- 3). Lift the top panel and rest it on the wall behind the Kenmore gas dryer.
- 4). Remove the screws near the top of the front panel. Unplug the door switch connector from its socket. Lift the front panel off the dryer cabinet.
- 5). Move the idler pulley away from the belt. Slide the old belt off the drum and pulleys.
- 6). Position the new belt along the groove of the drum. Loop the other end around the pulleys. Move the idler pulley toward the belt to remove any slack.
- 7). Replace the front panel. Connect the door switch connector into its socket. Install the screws, holding the front panel in place.
- 8). Lower the to panel onto the Kenmore dryer. Press down to engage the spring clips. Install the two screws next to the lint screen compartment.
